Dr Alida Connell MBChB, DMH, FC Psych, MMed, FRANZCP is a Psychiatrist with over 14 years of experience in South Africa and Australia.

She is a Fellow of the South African College of Psychiatrists (FC Psych) and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and is admitted to the Faculty of Neuropsychiatry and Psychotherapy of the RANZCP. She presently works in Brisbane as a consultant psychiatrist in private practice. 

Dr Connell initially practised as a General Practitioner before qualifying as a Psychiatrist and obtaining a Master’s in Medicine for her research in the field of Psychiatry. She is interested in all areas of general adult psychiatry, with a special interest in the mental health of military, veterans and emergency services personnel, and patients with neuropsychiatric symptoms.

Dr Connell is fluent in and able to conduct complex examinations in Afrikaans and English without the assistance of an interpreter.

Dr Connell personally consults in Brisbane and is available to take video exams across Australia.

Dr Connell is qualified to provide complex independent medico-legal reports for motor vehicle injuries in Queensland, ACT, Tasmania, Western Australia and Northern Territory; for Public Liability matters, including Institutional Abuse, in Queensland, ACT, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory; for workers compensation matters in Queensland (including GEPI) and Northern Territory; and Comcare, Superannuation, and DVA matters nationally.
