Dr James Roche
Dr James Roche BSc, MB BS(Hons), MRCS (Eng) FRCS (Tr & Orth) FRACS (ORTHO) is an Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Rockhampton while also serving as a Specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Hillcrest Private Hospital in Rockhampton.
Dr Roche graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in London then completed his Orthopaedic training at Nottingham University Hospital. He was admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2008.
Dr Roche spent a year working as Arthroplasty fellow in Perth gaining experience in complex joint replacement before returning to the UK. He completed a second fellowship specialising in Revision Hip and Knee Replacement.
In 2012, he was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery.
Dr Roche moved with his family to Rockhampton in 2016 – in 2017 he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
Dr Roche is a general orthopaedic surgeon practicing in Primary and Revision Hip replacement, Primary and Revision Knee Replacement, Arthroscopic knee surgery, Foot and ankle surgery, Broad trauma practice.
Dr Roche completed his AMA4 qualification in 2021 to enable him to assess NSW matters.
In his spare time, Dr Roche’s hobbies include equestrianism, motorsport, and facilitating his children’s sporting ambitions.
