Dr Janusz Bonkowski
Dr Janusz Bonkowski is a distinguished Neurosurgeon and Spinal Surgeon with over 30 years of clinical experience. He has over 10 years of experience as a medico-legal consultant being briefed by both insurers and plaintiffs alike.
Having obtained his medical degree from the University of Adelaide, Dr Bonkowski completed fellowships in General Surgery and Neurosurgery. He practiced in the United Kingdom prior to moving to New Zealand working as a Neurosurgeon at the Auckland and Christchurch Hospitals. In his Private Practice Dr Bonkowski consulted on disorders of the Brain, Spine and Peripheral Nerves. His special interest is degenerative disorders of the spine and microsurgical techniques in the management of spinal pathology. In 2012 Dr Bonkowski commenced working as a locum Staff Specialist in Neurosurgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and locum coordinator of undergraduate surgical training at the University of Queensland Herston campus.
Dr Bonkowski is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner in AMA 5 and is familiar with AMA 4; a registered trained assessor in GEPI 2 and accredited to assess workers’ permanent impairment under the Tasmanian WRCA. He is comfortable providing opinions regarding medical negligence matters.
Dr Bonkowski lives on the beautiful Sunshine Coast and enjoys living in paradise. His lifelong dream since being brought up in Adelaide was to have a house by the beach and he now lives close to his local beach.
