Dr Matthias Rau
Dr Matt Rau MBBS PhD FRACS FAOA is an Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Rockhampton with a special interest in upper limb injuries and trauma.
After graduating from Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg in Germany, Dr Rau took on elective terms and surgical internships in Swaziland, New Zealand and South Africa. Upon returning to Germany, he then became a General Surgeon before commencing as an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon.
Dr Rau became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010.
Dr Rau currently holds the position of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Mater Private Hospital in Rockhampton, specialising in upper limb and lower limb surgeries, with clinical interest in upper limbs, knees, joint replacements, arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries.
In his spare time Dr Rau enjoys cycling, motorcycles, diving, photography, gardening and creating bonsai trees and, last but not least, spending time with his family.
