Dr Mike Thomas
Originally hailing from the UK, Dr Mike Thomas MB BCh, MRCS, FRCS(Tr&Orth), AMC Cert, FRACS(Orth), FAOrthA, has been a Gold Coast-based general orthopaedic surgeon for many years. He has a busy clinical practice, but is also Clinical Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma Services for Gold Coast Hospital and Health Services, Chairman of the Queensland Directors of Orthopaedics Group, Orthopaedic Surgery Representative on the Surgical Advisory Committee to Queensland Health, Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor at Bond University School of Medicine, and a founding member of the Gold Coast Hand and Upper-Limb Research Society. His research into upper-limb conditions has been presented and published nationally and internationally.
Dr Thomas has special interests in hand and upper-limb surgery, trauma, joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery.
Dr Thomas has been performing independent medical assessments for many years, particularly for the Department of Veterans Affairs, but he is also very familiar with AMA5 assessments. He is passionate about the fair interpretation of previously asymptomatic underlying conditions that have been aggravated by traumatic incidents such as a workplace or motor vehicle accident.
