Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr Tony O’Neill MBBS, FRACS, FAOrthA is a Queensland trained General Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in sports injuries and subspecialty training in shoulder and knee surgery. Dr O’Neill consults in Brisbane and is happy to assess all orthopaedic injuries. 

Dr O’Neill worked in hospitals in Brisbane and the UK before undertaking orthopaedic training in Queensland, gaining his fellowship in 2012. He completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery at the Cape Shoulder Institute and Stellenbosch University in Cape Town. Dr O’Neill then worked as the knee fellow at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Fortius Clinic in London UK, where a large percentage of the clinic’s patients are professional athletes.

Dr O’Neill has published and presented research internationally and ensures that his knowledge and skills remain at the leading edge of his profession. He is currently a Director of the Brisbane Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Centre at Brisbane Private Hospital.

Outside of work Dr O’Neill enjoys spending time with family, playing tennis and training for triathlons.

Dr O’Neill is qualified to provide complex independent medico-legal reports for motor vehicle injuries in Queensland, ACT, Tasmania, Western Australia and Northern Territory; for Public Liability matters in Queensland, ACT, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia and Northern Territory; for workers compensation matters in Queensland and Northern Territory; and for Comcare, Superannuation, and DVA matters nationally.
